Browning Auto-5, what is it worth?

There is this fella at work that is selling a 20 gauge Browning Auto-5 shotgun. He wants 500 bucks for it, claims that it is a collectors piece. He told me they go for a Grand easy. It works decent, I'd say it is in shooting condition. Bluing is about gone, and the stock is okay but not in excellent shape. Just curious what ya'll think it is worth?

.

That will depend on the age. The older ones made in Belgium are worth more than those made in Japan. And ANY used guns value is based largely on condition, so even if its a really old one, it's not worth top dollar

Thanks that was very helpful. The gun was made in 1950 and in Belgium I believe. Looks to me what he is charging is pretty close to what one of them would be worth in that condition.

Forget the looks. If it functions well grab that thing and hold on tight. Things like this don't come along often.
