Sorta odd beaver catch

Had this beaver by a hind foot in
a # 11 longspring trap this morning.
Using a window weight drag with 5
feet of cable. I catch 5 or 6 a year
in that same ditch, usually by front
foot, with a 1 1/2 coil.

The meat and castors are worth
the skinning, if it had no hide!

I've heard some trappers talk of setting 1 1/2" coil springs for beaver; front paw catch as you mention, but catching a beaver in a #11 longspring is quite clever. Well done!!

yes , good question i know a guy traps 300 beaver a year he won't even start till it's below 0 and lakes are frozen hard claims it takes him 8 minutes to skin a beaver but he won't touch them till furs are in there prime nice thick winter fur.

If we waited for snow here, them
critters would get too old and tough
to eat! We already got plenty. Lets
not cut 'em any slack!

If you know somebody that can catch 300 a year through the ice in wisconsin,he's in the only part of the state that has 300 cause they're not from lincoln co. up to iron co.
