Deer Camp Stories

The other thread started me thinking about Deer camp, and the sometimes craziness that happens. Thought a few good (family friendly) stories might be appropriate.

Several years ago my usual hunting party planned a 5 day trip. Each was to bring food, and mix and match when we got to camp. No list of food responsibilities was made.
That week, a certain local store was running a SUPER SALE on Dinty Moore beef stew.
Guess what everybody brought.
Dinty Moore Beef Stew. Breakfast, lunch and dinner for 5 days.
Haven't eaten the stuff since.

Every year we take one night of camp and have a get together at the cabin for family and friends that don't hunt with us. We cook a big meal and enjoy a fun night of revelry. A couple of years ago my oldest daughter showed up for the party. This was going to be her first time ever seeing the cabin. Her and several other guests piled into a homemade trailer we built for a 4 wheeler. We generally use the trailer to haul supplies to the camp but tonight it was hauling passengers. My cousin's wife also sent some supplies up with the load and my daughter got tasked to hold a gallon sized jar of pickled eggs. Our cabin is in a remote spot and the trail to get there is pretty rough. Somewhere along the ride, unbeknownst to my daughter, the jar of eggs cracked. By the time they all arrived at the cabin it was pretty obvious by the smell what had happened. My daughters brand new Carhart jacket reeked of vinegar and pickling spice.

She still owns the jacket but it is now a work jacket as it still smells of pickled eggs.
