Craig's Downfall May Benefit Environmentalists

Craig's Downfall May Benefit Environmentalists

http://www.365gay.com/Newscon07/09/092907craig.htm

(Washington) The fall of Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho, removes a longtime obstacle to efforts by Democrats and environmentalists to promote salmon recovery on Northwest rivers.

Craig, who was removed from leadership posts on the Senate Appropriations and Energy committees after a sex scandal, is known as one the most powerful voices in Congress on behalf of the timber and power industries. Environmentalists have fought him for years on issues from endangered salmon to public land grazing.

Now Senate Democrats, exercising their slim majority, have waded into two contentious issues - both related to Snake River salmon.

First, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada asked federal regulators to require passage for salmon and steelhead for relicensing of the Hells Canyon Complex, a series

All well and good, until they pass a law that no one can use that resource because it is protected.

Clean water, clean air, fewer toxic chemicals in the fields, wise management of wetlands and woodlands, reduced soil erosion, maintained biodiversity and abundant wildlife habitat is the ruination of private property rights? Sure.

You 'foot-tappers' tend to stand together.

The greatest source of risk to American private property rights is the continued increase in human numbers, much of it from illegal immigration.

I'm still waiting for laws that say we can't steal resources from future generations.
