how about a HT whitetail buck contest

I'll pony up for the trophy... but we have to decide on the rules and regs ...

use boone and crockett scoring?

post a picture and check station paperwork?

i think there are enough deer hunters around this place to make it fun....

we don't have any "check stations" around here. not sure what they are. I'm with Ed, I'm fine with ugly ol' cull bucks as long as there's meat on the bones!

I hunt for protein. Much prefer a young doe or button buck to anything with a big rack.
Just hope that there are some deer left around here. Locals say as much as 30% of them have died this year due to drought and disease.

I don't hunt large bucks at all. Want to go for the most deer killed legally?

billybob, you wouldn't stand a chance against the large herd we have here and the cheap tags. I would need to buy another freezer to even be able to play.....

Not joking 2 years ago killed 32 had had places for all of them, all tagged and legal. I get 3 free tags and then tags are only 7 dollars each after that. You can only kill 1 Buck with antlers longer than 3 inches on at least 1 side no matter how many deer you kill. I filled up a lot of old folks freezers.

That is a bunch of deer. My best year was 7. We ate every one of them.

Well actually you can kill 3 or 4 Bucks all depends if you get drawed for Managed Hunt or not. There was one guy couple years ago that killed 75 Deer.

Me I'm just going to kill 3 or 4.They've just about killed all the Deer out around here with poaching. They won't let us use Bonus Tags over on Goverment Land trying to build the herd up.

I haft to take your word on that as I don't hunt anywhere except on my land. To many deer here. If I see someone taking a deer for their own table I don't see anything.
I would like the state to just give anyone a deer tag that wanted one and then charge 100 dollars for any unfilled deer tags. I bet their would be a lot less drinking and a whole bunch more deer killed.

There are very large bucks in the area. I'm not a trophy hunter though, so I'de pass on any contests for size. We also don't have check stations. After a kill, the deer is simply tagged and processed. With a doe tag, one can buy 6 more doe tags now in certain wildlife management units nearby. One large deer is enough for us, and we aren't allowed to hunt for anyone to fill freezers for others. They would need to hunt that themselves.

We get 2 tags when we buy a gun or bow license. One is a buck tag and one is a anterless tag. You then can purchase a anterless tag for 2 dollars each with the limit being one daily. We can shoot a buck for bow and one for gun, however you have to shoot a anterless deer first before you can tag a buck. We can donate deer to the food pantry by taking them to a butcher who is in the dnr food for the hungry plan. the dnr pays the butcher to skin and grind for venison burger given to the food pantry.

We can kill as many as we have tags for the same day but when we want to give food to the food pantry we haft to pay for it or most of it out of our own pockets. It hast to be inspected so we can't butcher it at home and donate it. I have buddy's that help me every evening during deer firearms season to process all deers killed that day by any of us.
My best kill rate was 5 young button bucks coming at me. I use my old 303 that I have had over 35 years I started shooting and when I was finished I had all five. I was hoping for 2.

I'm in Dallas County corner where Dallas,Laclede and Camden come together.

As far as Donating Deer Meat. You can Butcher it yourself if your Donating it through a Church.I know I did last year, all they need is the amount and your number on it.

Hopefully I will have most our Deer this weekend.

I wish I could still bow hunt. I hurt my shoulder well ruined it a few years back and as far as pulling a bow to kill anything that is now a thing of the passed.
I can still shoot my rifles both center fire and black powder.
