Hunting Leases!

I was told that the cost of A lease here is $750.00 A gun with A 2-3 gun max. And the leases are going fast. What are the Leases going for in your area?? The day hunters of Dove/Quail pay $125.00 Per day per gun. Thats Just STUPID!!!.

In my area, people are charging an amount equal to their property tax bill.

That varies greatly by county, township, etc.

Neighbor is getting $1000/yr for 80 wooded acres.

In Minnesota, I'd say 50 to 75% of the deer hunters hunt on county, state, and federal lands for free. I'm sure leasing is done in this state, but to be honest I've never heard of anyone leasing land for deer hunting. I thought Texas was such a big, dern state?!?!?

There's a lot of leasing going on in WI. I can't recall off hand what the typical going rate is per acre but it is typically a per acre price. Something like $10-$15/acre I think.

There is a fair amount of public land here, which I hunt (sometimes unfortunately) but everybody with any kind of money either wants to own their own land or pay a huge amount to lease so they can practice "quality deer management" by growing food plots and artificially promoting antler growth. Now, I totally agree with the philosophy of letting the little guys go to get bigger...that's cool but when you do harvest one of these spoiled bruisers, to me anyway, I wouldn't think it would mean as much as it would if you scouted for sign and figured out a buck in habitat where he actually had to work for his food.

To each their own. Maybe I'm just jealous I don't have such a place!

Got a neighbor charges $100 a day to hunt on his place.Opening weekend of Firearms Season you might as well be on Goverment Land.

I got very mad at a bunch that Lease just across the creek from me.Durring all Firarms Seasons they will shoot all the Deer they see and leave them lay. They say they are not intrested in butchering any Deer they just want to shoot them,if they was to Tag them their Season wouldn't last very long.

Truth I hunt my place opening weekend then go over on Goverment Ground.Anymore I just kill 3 or 4 Deer and call it good.

Why would you lease land for hunting? Find a farmer and get freindly with him and ask if you can hunt his land. Most of them will let you do this as long as you are courtious about the land.

In the mid 1970's I worked on a large ranch in Texas, a little over a million acres. At that time they leased their land to hunters at $1 per acre per year. They also raised thousands of goats just to feed the hunters who leased their land.
I am sure the price has gone up but I don't know how much.

There is NOT alot of Public hunting land here on the Rio. But the Leases are by the Thousands. We are Talking Stocked with deer. Heck theres even A DR. north of here by 50 miles who has A barn full of Fawns in the Spring. And A few thousand Acres. He estimates there are 20 deer to A mile..

Hardly any leasing done here unfortunately. Neither the government nor the police take trespassing seriously enough for leasing to catch on. No point paying someone for hunting rights when any fool can hunt on them for free with little to worry about in regards to trespassing.

The large logging company in our area always let people hunt for free. Not anymore, now places we use to hunt for FREE cost 1,500.00 per 40 acres for the hunting season. I had places with 5,000 acres in one chunk of private land that you could walk for 30 minutes to get the best private hunting spot that always produced. While those memories are mine forever, the price they want to be able to hunt aren't for country folk like me! I'll stay close to home and hunt for free and they can stick it where the sun don't shine......

Other than license fees, I've never "paid" to hunt. I have "bartered" hunting rights many times. In high school several of us would barter an hour of field work (fencing,mowing,clearing)etc.. for an hour of hunting. Worked out fine for everyone as we did our part prior to hunting season and never got burned. This was back in the day when business was conducted with a handshake. Most recently, my immediate neighbor has allowed me exclusive access to his 115 ac for a single pasture mowing (my tractor/fuel).....Works for me as last year I killed a nice eight point sitting in my yard.
