Huge sacrifice for spouse

Wife said she wanted to go fishing below the dam and catch some crappie as it appears they must be biting (bank elbow to elbow....). I point out that you have to get there very early to get a good spot which won't work for us since she is a late riser and I have critters that need feeding. She says if I'll go down and save us a spot, she will feed when she gets up and come on down......Beginning to formulate a plan. Son and I leave way before daylight, get a choice spot and have half the basket filled when she gets there at noon and assumes her place. The sun is getting hot and she notices I'm begining to fall out (my arms are sore from casting/fighting fish). She tells me to go home, clean the fish and take a nap and THANKS me for getting her a spot. Man, the sacrifices I do for that woman....getting up before daylight, driving down and secure us a spot, practically fill a fish basket, get the whole day off from chores AND get an undisturbed afternoon nap........I almost feel guilty. Can't wait to do it again........

Seriously.

Then again, I am not married to a morning person either.........

That is a most austentacious display of love towards your woman folk. Sacrificing your valuable sleep time by rising early, and toiling over that dadgum rod and reel to feed your family. Not to mention staying there for HOURS until you turn over your reserved honey hole to the wife so she can continue in the ardent task of putting protein in the freezer.

You're a good man Dave...

Hey Dave where you been fishing at? I've been fishing at low water dam near Locust Grove, Okla. We've been slaying the sandbass like you wouldn't believe. Everytime we/I go, we fill up a 5 gallon bucket full then head back home. They're still bitin when we quit. We figure that's enough to keep us busy for the rest of the afternoon. There's people there that keep on fishing from daybreak to dark thirty. No telling how many they are taking home each time.

Tailwater below Hugo (S.E. Oklahoma). Got a LOT of rain and most of the lakes down here are releasing. Interesting side note, MANY of the crappie had full bloody egg sacs. Guess we didn't get as good of a spawn as I thought we did. Shame too since those crappie would probably spawn out in nests that are normally (and will become) dry land.
I love catching sand bass and hybrids but can't stand to eat them. I'll give them all away and pick up some Mrs. Paul's on the way home...

David

I saw on the news last night where over in Arkansas they are trying to figure out why a lot of spawning fish have bloody sacs and wondering how this is gonna effect future fishing. I haven't noticed any bloody sacs in the fish I've been catching but have noticed a few females having really creamy/runny looking eggs. As if they aren't fully developed.

And, the catfish are starting to spawn also. A guy gave me two catfish to put on my stringer and when I filleted them out they were full of eggs.
