Been catching sandbass by the bucket full.

Sandbass are biting real good right now around here. Everytime I (or we) go I bring back 20 to 30 fish. Yesterday I took my two youngest daughters, ages 6 and 9) and I let them do all the fishing. I caught the first two and then they caught the rest. We were fishing with live minnows and it was quit a job running back and forth to each girl, taking fish off and putting on a new minnow. We finally ran out of minnows. The girls wanted to go get some more minnows, but I looked at that stringer full of fish and decided that was all I wanted to clean in one day.

Sad thing about all this! I've been eating fried fish and taters like they are going out of style. Tomorrow I have a doctors appointment to check and see how my diabetis is doing. Ole Doc isn't going to like this, I can tell my pants are fittin a little tighter!

I remember fishing with my great uncle when I was a little guy around 12. We went to a lake in western oklahoma. I think it was around a town called Granite, Oklahoma. I had so much fun. Until we had to clean them. I remember a big washtub full of fillets. MY job was to take the innards out and put them in the water. His was to fillet.

Sandbass are White Bass. Some people also call them Sandies. I believe they call them sandies or sandbass cause they prefer a sandy bottom to lay their eggs in.

Well my appointment did go well except for the fact that I did gain a few pounds. So now I have to get back on my diet and lose those extra pounds plus a few more to make my doc happy the next time I see him. Gonna be tuff cause I got a lot of fish in the freezer and still got the catfish spawn coming up. I have to pig out again on fresh catfish fillets when the time comes.

I can remember fishing for sandbass and stripers on Lake Texoma. All we would do is set in the boat and when we saw the water begin to boil race over to the spot. Didn't need any bait, just a shiny hook. Fishing would be fast for a few minutes they we would have to wait until we saw the water boil in another place. All the boats would race to see who could be the first to get there.

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT! It's been a long time since I've even owned a boat but I can remember accidentially running upon a school of sandbass tearing up the shad. Just about the time you get about 5 or 6 hauled into the boat the school disappears. Then you gawk around trying to locate where they are gonna pop up next. A lot of fun for a short while.

Well I took my whole family fishing Saturday again. My wife and 3 daughters. We stopped at the bait shop and bought 3 dozen minnows and headed to the fishing hole. I baited everyones line up and got them going and in 2 1/2 hours time we ran out of minnows and had 29 fish on the stringer. I could have went after more minnows cause the fish seem to be biting even better then when we first got there. But with all the fish that I've/we have already put in the freezer I decided we had enough. No need'n to get too greedy.

Today we had a big fish fry and had all my wife's family over to celebrate her birthday. (which is tomorrow) Everybody loved the fish. I also have some pictures of my girls with their catch. Just need to learn how to download and post them on here.
