Rossi Rifles

Anybody here own a Rossi Single Shot rifle? Local gun shop has a couple (.22 and .243) on closeout and I am thinking seriously about them. Read some negative stuff on the webb about Rossi (Taurus), and just wondering if anybody here has any first hand experience.

They should be OK. Rossi never made great handguns, but Taurus ( the newer ones) are wonderful guns. NEF and H&R also make good single shot rifles at a decent price. Im not sure about the Rossi, but with the others you can also buy extra barrels to fit the reciever. They have to be fitted at the factory, but after thats done you can switch them yourself anytime you want

I've only ever had one problem with my Taurus revolver. The screw that holds the cylinder stop and spring came loose and was lost at the range. I called Taurus and with in a week they replaced it, at no cost to me. Now you have to understand I've had this pistol for 15+ years. I bought it before Taurus was well known. It is now starting to show timing marks, but after all the 357's I have through it I'm not complaining..

I personaly don't like rossi's design with a seperate safty and hamer i prefer the nef design with transfer bar

but if in your hunting you have time to take off a safty and pull back a hammer it should be fine

i havent looked at one in a while but that was the desing when i did.

i like my nef same price range made in usa and more barrel choices

my bud has a .410 /.22 lr combo he got for his kids. works fine. Not fancy but they seem to work decent enough for the dollars. I do like H&R stuff too. I am still kickin myself for gettin rid of a 30-30 H&R handi rifle I bought used. I bought a pair in .357 and .30/30 cheap and sold the 30/30 for the price of the 2... that was before I really could appreciate the value of both the 30/30 and the basic utility rifle. I am glad I kept the mag though its fun...

I bought the .243/20 ga. youth gun for my nephew to hunt with and it has been a great little gun for the money. it is light weight and accurate what more could you want??

I don't have a Rossi rifle but they are good for what they are ment to be. Tarus in my opinion is a great company to do buisness with. I have a Tarus milinum 9mm. That is my concieled carry weapon. I ilke it and they have a lifetime guarintee with them.

My daughter uses a Rossi .243, has taken several deer with it.
I would say good value for the money.
Personally I prefer the H&R/NEF as they also have a good value and I have added several barrels at a reasonable cost. (10)



Tallpaul, you can get a 30-30 barrel for 85 bucks from H&R for your .357.

Hunter- its more than that because you need to ship the gun to them to have it "fitted" And my gun is an original H&R ta boot and I don't believe they offer the service to the older guns. I also am not into the multiple barrells on the H&R stuff- they are cheap enough that unless I get a deal on a combo I just buy the whole thing. A .223 is on my short list for a "beater" - "truck gun" one of these days as well as a sportster in .22 mag . the only reason I regret the sellin of that 30/30 was I had 150.00 in both and sold it for 125.00 to a friend ... both rifles had decent scopes and although I made out like a bandit I just regret the sale now that I appreciate the gun and the "old cartridge" . He sold it to a neighbor who uses it for varmits and deer every year and would not sell it for triple.

My cousing has been a rossi fan for about 13 years. He is always saying high praises of them. I have shot most of his guns. They all shoot well. I just went another direction on my purchases.
