A good choice. Hold it securely when you fire it, for it is lighter than a repeater, or you could get your eyes crossed and you nose numbed. Get a set of adjustable sights if you intend to use slugs, or a scope mount if the barrel is drilled and tapped. The scope would be a help with turkeys. A 4 power or a red dot is all you need, paying attention to the eye relief with a scope. The scope should be around three to four inches from your eye. Also consider putting a cheek rest on the comb whe using a scope, which allows instant alignment of the eye with the scope when that big buck or turkey presents itself. If you find the recoil is more than you like, install a good recoil pad. Holding the gun securely is the most important thing, along with leaning into the gun. Break open single shots are maligned, not because of the design, but because many do not use proper shooting form. A good reliable failsafe gun, easy to care for, easy to shoot, and forcing one to consider the shot before firing, instead of just blasting way with a volley. Good luck with it.
