Squirrel season opening this morning.

As I type this I'm having a cup of coffee, and the boys are eating left-over pizza for breakfast as we get ready to go after some bushytails. Rebekah (6yo) was going to go too, but when I woke her up to get ready she was walking by our bed (with my wife still in it), and said, "I wanna stay with mama." So she's already back asleep. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Not a great day for squirrels today. Only saw two, and only got one of those. Did see a LOT of deer sign, and picked out a couple of good places for stands.

You know, my husband went squirrel hunting this afternoon and got one and as he was cleaning it he noticed that the squirrel was full of worms. The squirrel had been gut shot, otherwise we probably wouldn't have known.

Has anyone else seen this? Or know anything about eating a squirrel like that?

Must of been a bad day for squirrel hunting cause me and my two youngest daughters went squirrel hunting today also and we only seen two squirrels. We didn't get either one as they both ran quickly for a hole.

My oldest daughter didn't go with us either. For some reason she just isn't into hunting anymore. She's getting into teenage stuff and hunting just isn't on her mind anymore. I figure the two youngest daughters will probably fall out of hunting also when they become young teenagers. I figure in about 5 years I will be back to hunting by myself once again.

We can hunt rabbits year-round, but squirrels run from mid-November to mid-March.
