Question What will do this?

I have a question on wild animals if you all do not care me asking.

How do bears attack their prey?

Why asking is because my bf that had passed away she had a white pony and alone with a brown pony but the little white pony is gone. What I mean on gone they went looking for her yesterday and only thing they found was bones and fur of the little white pony but just a few feet on down there where like wollded out spots like something had rubbed on the ground. The little white pony was alive 2 days ago and now this.

What could it be a bear or ?

The other pony is safe for now but the white one is nothing but bones and fur..

also if pony got sick it could have went down and wallowed out the spots.but also if a large predator killed her it will have a place wallowed out from the struggle for life.how much blood was at spots and how far apart.any tracks at all?

We live in Lee County Va.. You might have heard of that not sure.

My bf hubby found just the bones and fur of the pony. When this happen it was very dry so no tracks could be seen but now it has rained but I'm very worried for the life of the other pony now. It is very hard to believe such an animals could kill a pony like that and leave nothing but all bones and fur. Where the wallowed out spots was like about 15 to 25 feet from where they found the bones and fur of only the pony left. The pony wasn't sick as far as we all know because she and her buddy pony would come down to eat everyday and night. Here alone with the death of my bf now her pony gone. Gosh what a hard hit on us and her family. Oh on the blood they didn't say anything about seeing blood it just like something killed the pony in that spot and cleaned it up and left.

well what you know we are neighbors.i live in pulaski county.it very well could be a bear.alot of bears down your way.also if pony got sick or chocked on a apple or pear and died.it would not take long for a bear to find it and comsume it.also coyotes could eat a small pny in a couple of days along with a few buzzards.more than likely it wasnt a bear but it could have been.the reason i say its not a bear is because right know there is alot of food inn the woods for them to eat....wild cherries, apples ,acorns, hickory nuts, poke berries, corn fields etc.i hope this helps some at least to ease your bind.

A lion will usually cover up the remains with sticks or dirt, and leave big rake marks where it pulls the cover to the carcass. He will also jump on the back, hook the muzzle with his claws, pull the head around sideways, then bite the neck and it almost explodes from being under such pressure.

A bear often breaks the neck, and you can tell that easily if the head and spine are left. The head will be really loose and there will be a space between some of the first verterbrae, with the spinal cord holding everything together. Sometimes a bear will also kill with one big blow to the spine or head, and it will be crushed and broken. Alot of times a bear kill is left laying on it's back, for some reason, unless they eat the whole thing. I'm not sure what the wallers could be, unless the big old bear ate his huge meal and then rolled around a while, relaxing. They do like to be comfortable.

Question

When I talk to my bf hubby tomorrow I will ask him if the neck was broke but of what I could get out of him was it was like all the bones was attached and not broken but I will find out. But the way he talked to us tonight on the phone it was just like something came and killed it and ate it just then and left just the bones and fur only. We have been talking to others people tonight and they seem to think it a mountain lion but if was a mountain lion wouldn't it leave some kinds of blood or flesh?

What got their attention also was the other pony is never without the other until that one night and they couldn't go looking for the white pony because his wife was dieing and the next day they went looking and found it like that. Gosh this is awful for them to find his wife pony dead which I mean nothing but bones and fur just shortly after she passed on.

That is what has all of us stumped because not a bit of flesh left just bones and fur. It eatting a pony in one night gosh that had to be a hungry old whatever animal.

And on down from the kill a walleed out place.. HUMM..

one thing to think about wallowed out spot.when a large animal gets sick cow or horse.once they go down they will wallow out a huge area.if it was killed more than likely it died a fast death and would have not left a wallowed out spot.i seen cows get paritnities and they wallowed all night long.they left a huge place.i seen a cow choke on a apple it was so violent by the time we could get safely to her she was gone and left a good size place on ground from thrashing around.

I would bet coyotes or a pack of dogs. Black bears seldom kill large animals unless they are starving. A bear ofrmountain lion wouldnt eat an entire pony in a couple of days and would have drug it off and covered it for later. A pack of dogs would have eaten all of it ASAP. Also buzzards find food quickly and can clean up a carcass faster than you'd think. Its also possible one animal killed it and others helped eat it. Id get theh other pony closer to the house though

A lion can't eat a pony that fast. He'll have a good feed and come back later to uncover and eat more. But a big bear getting ready for winter sure can, and they are getting ready for winter. Also, it might have a couple of big yearling cubs with it, and I have seen a little bear eat a 50 pound sack of dog food.

The head is usually still attached when the neck is broken. Blood soaks into the ground, don't worry about not finding any.

Here is the blessing in the middle of your bad week. You don't have a dead horse to get rid of, just some bones.
