Blackberries

We've been wanting to plant blackberries for the past few years...but never seemed to get around to it. I'm good under pressure though, so when I tripped over a good deal for 28 Triple Crown plants, I snatched them up

I would appreciate anyone willing to offer up some pics of your trellis system and/or advice on the best way to grow them. I was thinking...2 or 3 line trellis with posts 16' apart. Planning on 2 80' long rows with spacing @ about 6+', allowing some room for filling in to approx. 3' centers

Sound about right? Suggestions on wire heights?

That's what I did with my trellis' and it seems to work well. I don't know how far off the ground I put the first wire, (I only have 2) but if I had to guess I'd say it was about 14" or so and the next one was a couple feet off the ground.

I put mine up on cattle panels, strong, easy and tall enough. Put metal fence post on each end and one in the middle.

When I first got the Triple Crown I wove the canes through a 6 foot tall chain link fence. Then work happened and I didn't get them woven through the fence. This past weekend I just used velcro ties and tied them to the fence.

I'm going to be trellising like this. Rows about 150 feet long. I'll be running drip tubing irrigation down the row, too.

Bobcat, I love that setup. I may have to build something like that.
Thank you for posting that picture.

It is. It wasn't my idea just something I found and liked and thought it was worth sharing! I already have all the posts so I don't need to buy much to build it.

I planted my triple crown bb 4 ft. apart and that seems enough.
