garlic question

Part of my harvest-ready garlic accidentally got caught in a heavy, prolonged rain. I dug it out muddy and set to dry in my shed. Likely I should have gotten more of the mud off while wet. I'm trimming the stems and pulling away outer skin now. More of the skin is coming than I'd like, though only here and there right down to the flesh, and those cloves we can eat this week. I'm presuming we eat this garlic first, but is it that likely to spoil or mold sooner than cosmetically better? Is it OK to sell at farm market? Will it work OK to plant from this? I already have stored enough from the earlier dig with skin like "store-bought" to get through at least part of winter, so at least not losing that ability. Thanks, Sue

Though it wont store as long as the bulbs with the wrappers intact they should be just fine following a good cure. Judging by the cure id save these for planting and use the "nice" ones for selling at a higher price at the farm market, of course you could always sell the second crop as "seed" garlic

Nobody will buy loose cloves. Sell your best bulbs at the farmers market and use the loose ones for cooking and planting back. They won't spoil or mold and may last longer than intact bulbs which have been saturated. My kitchen mixes were always loose or leftover cloves and never a problem.
