garlic question
Part of my harvest-ready garlic accidentally got caught in a heavy, prolonged rain. I dug it out muddy and set to dry in my shed. Likely I should have gotten more of the mud off while wet. I'm trimming the stems and pulling away outer skin now. More of the skin is coming than I'd like, though only here and there right down to the flesh, and those cloves we can eat this week. I'm presuming we eat this garlic first, but is it that likely to spoil or mold sooner than cosmetically better? Is it OK to sell at farm market? Will it work OK to plant from this? I already have stored enough from the earlier dig with skin like "store-bought" to get through at least part of winter, so at least not losing that ability. Thanks, Sue
