Pea spacing on a trellis

I just finished up the trellis's, they're made from concrete reinforcing panels with 6" squares. Theres a total of 8 trellis's for peas and pole beans, each is 10' long x 7- 1/2' high.

(This is my first time growing peas- sugar snap & sugar daddy) Having read peas are subject to mold, mildew etc.. due to lack of circulation if planted too close, I'm second guessing myself.

Heres what i have in mind:
Plant 2 rows (1 on each side of each trellis), 6" between rows
At each 6" upright, plant 2 seed, 2" apart

This all adds up to 4 beans every 6" of run, planted in a 2"x6" spacing pattern per upright. 84 peas vines per 10' trellis.

Since each upright will basically be holding 4 vines, I thought this might be too many? to allow for good air circulation. I'm not concerned with maxing out production, but i don't want to underplant either. Does this sound OK????

Any and all advice/opinions are appreciated

Jack

Looks good to go to me. With that much neatness and precision, I would hate to take them down at the end of the season.

Sugar Daddy peas are a dwarf, though, and should not need support. If the others are true vining peas, I would plant them, as you mention, in a double row, 6 inches apart and two inches in the row on the trellises--and do the Sugar Daddy somewhere else. if this is your first time to plant peas, you should use the recommended innoculant for peas, to ensure they will get enough nitrogen.

Four bean vines per upright should be no problem. They won't be trying to strangle each other as they seldom cross. They'll zig-zag all over just to avoid that. Also should not be a problem with circulation as long as you have just 2 rows of trellis.

Thanks again Fellas!

Geo, other than the lower 2-1/2' of wire on each trellis, I'm not planning to take these down year-year. Last year, these same poles were used for my teepees. They worked well enough, but made finding the pole beans too tough at the top. This is my mark2 (and final)version

Yes, first time with peas. Thanks for the headsup on the sugar daddys. These seed packets really could use a bit more info for us rookies. I'm still not sure on the sugar snaps, there's no mention at all about vine height. Hmmm, and I thought I was planting tomorrow.

I do have the innoculant though
