rasberry plants

I have a bed, that is up against my shed that is 3 foot x 22 foot long. Would this be a good place for rasberries? Where would be a good place to get them and when do I plant them?
This bed still has bind weed problems, would the rasbrry plants be able to compete with the bind weed?
How often do you dig up rasberry plants?
What is a good kind that i could get good production from? What is the best way to put them uP?

Need to kill out that bind weed, it will climb up the plant and kill them out. Once planted I only add a plant if one dies out, keep plants 18" apart and pull everything in between. My raspberries are the ones that produce spring and fall, they taste better in the fall although not as many. I have moved 4 times and taken starts, didn't know their name 40 yrs ago. I put up 2 rows of T posts 3' apart and 6' down the row, keep the canes between the 3 wires, 1', 2' and 3' above ground. In the early winter, cut canes 4' high and they produce side shoots that are loaded next spring. Since they are up against a shed I would come off 2' and put the posts. I have tied teach of hem seperately to the wire too....James

Will the shed shade them? They do okay with afternoon shade but need sunlight.

Can you work on getting rid of the bind weed this year still? Can you smother it with chopped leaves? I like to plant raspberries against a wall since it helps keep them from spreading at least that one direction. I let my canes grow 6-12 inches apart. You might do better in your climate with everbearers since you can cut the canes to the ground in fall, mulch and not have to keep the canes protected against the winter winds that you get - compared to growing summer bearers or blacks that have to have their canes wintered over.

How close are you to Bear Lake in the SE corner? They sell raspberries down there.

I have never had to dig up rasberry canes except to move them. They are easy to transplant. Too bad you aren't closer, I have a many canes I have been trying to give away all fall.
