new ferns on asparagus?

My 2-year-old asparagus patch seems to have put up new ferns, or the old ones greened up again with recent rains, not sure. Is this normal? Thanks, Sue

The patch is too new to pick. Maybe I will get some in fall again once they are old enough. Sue

You can probably trim them to the ground now and destroy or burn the stems. That way, the asparagus beetles won't have a place to winter over. Neighbor just cut his all off 2 days ago and left the pile at the edge of my back yard. That means that I could run them twice through my bagging mower and then into the compost tumbler. He isn't much of a gardener otherwise but has some great asparagus!

That is an idea. I have a lot of chores to do this week, but by about next weekend should be able to get to that.
