moving parsnip for seed saving

Can I move a parsnip root or 2 to the back of my garden and have it survive and go to seed next year. i think I read you can do things like this with carrot roots.

Yes, they are tough and despite losing a lot of roots during transplanting, there's plenty of energy stored to make more. It's little different than trimming everything off for storage and have it sprout and start growing again.
