Planting near a dog run

We have a run for our dogs. It currently is shaded by a jujube tree but I'd like to add another tree, perhaps a citrus, that will provide more dense shade.

Would there be a problem planting a tree with edible fruit (jujubes are edible but I don't eat them) in this situation? I've heard one shouldn't compost dog manure and although we clean up the mess there is an amount that would get washed down to the tree (not to mention the urine).

There shouldn't be any problems unless one of your dogs is a digger and they dig too close to the rootball.

the problem with dog waste is parasites more than virus, we fertilize (and have for years) our apple trees with dog manure.

The plantings are outside of the run so digging isn't too much of a problem. The jujube seems to be thriving in the area, and we were thinking how nice it would be to have a tree we could eat the fruit of. Good to know there won't be a problem with eating the fruit!
