Question Yield from Opalka Paste Tomatoes

I will be planting Opalka paste tomatoes as my only paste tomato this year. How many should I plant to get a good enough yield to can at least 30 quarts of tomato products.

These would only be used to can--I am planting other tomatoes to use fresh for cooking during the summer.

Thanks!!

About 30 of them....Actually, I don't really know. I planted 65 tomatoes last year and canned sauces, salsa, taco sauce, tomatoes and V-8...I did about 40 qts. If you are doing tomato or spaghetti sauce it will take a lot more tomatoes than if you are doing salsa and whole tomatoes.

30 quarts equals 60 pounds. Takes a good plant to produce 10 pounds after waste. Without knowing any other possible factors, 8 plants would probably be enough.

My Opalaka Tomatoes were the heaviest yielder in the garden year before last. I had planted many tomatoes that year, and after noticing certain plants were producing very heavy, I checked the tag--Opalaka, then I did a taste test with a few people--the Opalaka won again.
