Tomatoes/Atlanta/help

I'm visiting in Atlanta area and want to set up some earth boxes for my DD. Since I live out in KS I don't know what varieties to purchase. I want the most reliable varieties for the area. Hybrids are fine for this purpose.

Would also be interested in knowing if someone can recommend a bedding plant nursery in the Griffin area.

TIA

I'll try to check back. I don't get much 'puter time since they are on dial up and the grandbabies are more entertaining anyway.

Never had any problems growing any type of tomato . I usually grow "Rutgers" but I think any type would be fine. I am not in the Griffin area but I am sure there is a Lowes there and I know ours here has some nice tomato plants.

Thanks Chris. I just know that tomatoes are very location specific. The varieties that do well for me out in KS probably aren't the best varieties for Atlanta. I will look for Rutgers.

Well I may be answering too late, but thought I'd let you know my mother has been gardening VERY successfully for about 40 years (in Atlanta/Gainesville) and her favorite tomatoes to grow here are Early Girl, Big Beef, Big Bite, Viva Italia...those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head...

HTH!
