butterfly plant

While at a local flea market early this Spring I purchased a butterfly plant and it has done wonderful. I would really like for someone to identify this plant for me so I can plant more next year. It vines like a morning glory only it but does not stop until all usuable space is occupied. The flowers are numerous and small in size and bright red in color. The man said it was an annual and to save the seed but I have not been able to find the seed as of yet. I plan to put them on my dog pens for shade next year as they grow that well.
thanks,

Does this look like it? Hummingbird vine. I think there is a larger version called Red Cypress Vine. The seeds are easy to collect.

The seeds are in the bottom of the spent flower. They are ready when it turns brown and starts to open.

Hope this helps.

There is also one that has leaves not as cut as that, with red flowers.

That looks like the member of the morning glory family (ipomoea) called Cypress Vine or Cardinal Climber. They normally climb about 8 feet, but can go up to 20. It is indeed an annual.

I'd call it Cardinal Climber.
