impatients getting burned

If You think crop circles are weird this is worst.
I have impatient planted around a topiary, in a circle two of the impatients are burned like with an acid, they are not close to each other. Imagine a cirle one of the burned plant is at 9:00 and the other is at 4:00, the rest of the circle are healthy and beutiful. What do you think? aliens or dogs ( I know we have both in my neck of the woods) or what???

Something attacked the stem/roots? If the plants were attacked near where they emerge from the ground, the attack would affect the entire plant but not any other plants.

I would guess

I would guess that you are one the right track when you mention dog urine as being a possible cause.

yes I think That's the answer.

yesterday I pulled one of the plants from the dirt and I checked the roots and the dirt and I found nothing. I remember one of my friend told me about his dog Urinating habits and it always do it in the same place. Now i wonder if somebody knows any good repelents for dogs.

No, I was just suggesting you check the stem near the ground and if the plant was a total goner dig up the roots near the surface.

I think you're on the right track with the dog pee though. Our dog will pick a spot and stick to it for several days before he moves on to a new spot.

If it isn't dog urine, is the area where the impatiens are planted in the sun at all? I know that most impatiens can't take a lot of sun, though there are many new varieties that tolerate both sun and shade.

I go for the Dog urine. We have an old fellow he walks an ancient dog around the plant every day when I am not around if he see my car he doesn't do it. But I have a strong feeling he is the culprit. He didnt want for me to put a tree in that place from the beginig. I planted a topiary and everybody fell in love with it I know he is sabotaging. Because he complainted to the police, before I planted the tree, but I have the authorization from our town manager and filed in the police station to plant a tree. Well I am not giving it up. I am going to plant petunias next year seems more resistent to the dog urine.
