Organic Gardening Magazine.

Does anyone get this magazine and, if so, do you find that it's worth the money?

We used to get it regularly but quit a few years ago.

Too glossy and far from gardening as I know it anymore. Changed when the prior Rodale quit doing most of the stuff.

Just like Mother Earth News. Was good, now just glossy fluff.

i remember, when og mag was the size of the tv guide (i guess that changed too), and newspaper. that little mag. was filled with good stuff. i get it again, and actually get mad. thick glossy paper, no info. rehashed suburbanite stuff.

and don't get me going on m.e.n. mag. when they did the article on computers on the farm, they lost me. and compost corner, just how much can you say about compost.

i do like countryside, and backwoods home, they are still informative.

Back when it was still Organic Gardening and Farming and still printed in the small format on pulp paper it was good stuff. Nowadays it's just another glossy throwaway.

I agree with all the above, used to be great- junk now. Okay, maybe it's still good for the most basic beg. newbie but I wouldn't waste my money. Countryside's much better.

I cruise them at the library while the kids pick books. Occasionally there is a worthwhile article, but seldom enough to even check it out and bring it home.

I had it for a few years & then quit when it switched over. IIRC, there was suddenly a whole lot more about organic beauty products and next to nothing about silly things like food.

I haven't looked at it since the switch, though, so maybe they learned something & changed back, or maybe they found a whole lot of people looking for seaweed wrinkle cream.

Uh ... can you tell beauty products are not high on my list of priorities?

I haven't subscribed to it since they changed the format and thinned down the magazine. I really like it when it was the TV guide size. I am still missing the Eggplant Pizza recipe that was in it years ago..

Quality has been really uneven, as they have been switching editors every couple of years. I've never *quite* given up on it, but I sure have been unhappy with a lot of the issues. At least, they split off the "organic living" stuff into a separate magazine a while back and I don't have to put up with a lot of that useless stuff.

The newest editor seems to be getting back to the magazine's roots and there are a lot more articles that actually pertain to real gardening. I have hope!
