weedy hay= lasagna

can you use weedy hay too bed for lasagna mulch? have 3 large round bales that were late cut and have weed seeds in them. would like too try deep bedding a part of the garden this year. would it be better long stem or chopped? (we have the technology too chop up round bales, commercial sheep farm)

I got hay growing up in my beds- be careful if an invasive sort!

It'll be perfect. If something geminates that you don't like, just throw some more on it.

The problem I had with using big round bales was --it was unrolled north to south--my garden beds go east to west! think thats not a problem? I was wishing for a electric knife that would cut it to plant thru!!

On a good tight roundbale....try a chainsaw. LOL...ask me how I figured this out!....that was a badddddd day.

well, looking at the garden this weekend ,i will be chopping the hay onto half the garden too try. last year some datura got away from us and has reseeded it self over this area. lots of little datura coming up! nothing more invasive here, grass we can deal with!
