Hickory Cane Corn

My FIL has a stand of hickory cane corn. DH and I were considering selling/trading some of the seed, but can't find any comparable pricing online. The closest I can find is hickory king, which runs about $8 per pound or ~$2 for 2 oz. If we sell any of this, we'd like to charge a fair price that is agreeable to both parties.

As a homesteader, what do you think this corn is worth, either per pound or in a 2 oz packet?

Menollyrj,

You might consider asking that same question on this other forum as well:

http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/heirloom/

There are some other forums there... that may also be relevant to your question.

It is a white dent corn, but some in our area of East TN eat it like a sweet corn. It is also good for making hominy. And yes, it gets VERY tall, with ears about 10 inches long (or more). Moonshiners liked it because of its productivity and high sugar content...

Junkman, thanks for the advice. I posted there also.

Zebraman, if you would share that info w/us, I'd appreciate it. Like I said, I just want to know what is a fair price/value... Thanks a bunch!

Hickory Cane corn price, 200 seeds for $4. That's Seed Savers Exchange price to non-listed members. For listed member, $3.

Thanks! I'll post an offer on the Barter Board later today. I need to count out ~200 seeds & calculate postage...

Martin, that pretty well aligns with what I've been hearing from other sources - about $2 for 200 seeds, and with a bubble envelope and postage, it would be about $4.

I'm posting on the barter board in about 2 minutes...
