Ever use one of these?

For those folks who constantly argue with the deer and coons over who gets to eat the peas and beans, has anyone ever used one of these? The idea is interesting, and seems to have promise, but I'd like to know if it works before plunking down the cash. They may be available less expensively elsewhere.

Jus wonderin'

I bought one from a company called smarthome a few years ago. The mule deer would stand in the sprinkler water as they ate my lawn. The rabbits did run out of the water spray. My water bill sent almost double each month. I finally gave up and just built a higher fence and got a small dog for the yard.

We made a motion detector scare thing of our own. We tried all sorts of things to scare critters away (mostly coons). At first, simply turning on a light sent them packing. But they got used to it after a week or two. Then we hooked up a radio to the motion detector. That got them running for another few weeks but they got used to it also. Then came the sprinkler. I don't think it ever worked. But it was our own contraption and I don't think it ever actually hit anything with the water. Then a mountain lion moved into the neighborhood and we don't have a coon problem anymore!

An 8 foot fence is the only thing to keep deer out in my opinion!
