We usually have bird feeders around the house during the winter and the birds drop so many of the sunflower seeds that our house is surround with hundreds of sunflowers that we don't plant..lucky us. I leave them up all winter and let the birds feast on them. Also, buy sunflower seeds in #50 bags for the peacocks and goats and throw a handful around the outside of the barn and also have lots of sunflowers grow on their own for the beauty of them to enjoy and also to let the birds have also. I'm always so impressed how when you toss a few seeds or the birds do that they grow and often when we fuss over a few seeds from an expensive package bought they don't do ask well. Haven't gotten around to roasting and eating them though !!
