Is 12 Volt Easier?

Is it easier to switch everything over to 12 Volt than running through an Inverter? I'm thinking it is.

Define "easier" ?

You mean throw out AC appliances and start over with 12vDC ones ?

Have you calculated the wire size required to run very far with 12v ?

Lot of things to take into consideration.

For a cabin, or even small house, IF set up to begin with, 12v certainly IS an option.

But if you're talking a 'conventional' house already set up for 120/240AC, I rather doubt it's easier.....and likely a budget buster.

Ok lets put it this way you decide to slowly convert over from 120/240AC to 12v.Start with lights, things wear out as they do just go with 12v.

I have considerd Inverter for some things like my Computer,I can charge it back up off Battery.Things like Refridgerator most here go with Propane but thinking I would like to get away from that.

Most here use Propane for everything I'm wanting to get away from that.

Do both.

If you really like 12 volt,it is more efficient on power loss and one less item to go bad without an inverter....but obviously a lot more 120 appliance options and cheaper. You dont find many 12 volt mixers at a garage sale or thrift store, and 12 volt refers tend to be pricey, etc, when a 2000watt sine wave inverter can be had for 350 bucks and run a plethora of doodads.

Wire for both and have both options

That's what I do here. I'm totally 12 volt and use an inverter when I need to. I have 12 volt outlets that I plug my inverter into in the kitchen, bathroom and living room just to operate the few a.c. things that I do have. (mixer, small vacume cleaner, solder iron, hot glue gun, charger for my cordless tools, to name a few) I just carry the inverter to the room (area) that I need it in and use it. A 50' extension cord will give me a.c. anywhere I need it..
