Anybody Heard from Katskitten

Last post I saw Elaine posted that Joe was in the hospital. That was back in July. Anybody heard anything? I got kind of worried when I realized how long it had been since Elaine last posted.

Katskitten posted on 08-05-13 - "Look What Followed me Home" on this forum. I didn't know Joe had been ill - hope he had a full recovery!

Joe is posting on the QuiltingBoard.com (vintage machine section). He's got quite a ways to go to be fully recovered, but is slowly making progress.

I think he said it was difficult to it at the computer - so his posting is limited.

I am sorta kinda functional. My bummed up right shoulder is very gradually loosening up so I can type at the computer.

I spent a week in the hospital after two visits to the ER. It took a second visit for them to decide I wasn't a junkie looking for a fix and that I was in real agony. My BP was 220/130+.

After tests and cultures they diagnosed me with a systemic e-coli infection. A week of anti-bios via IV in the hospital then 3 weeks so far of anti-bios via the out patient infusion clinic. More tests this coming Monday to see if the anti-bios can be stopped.

The e-coli landed in the muscles of my lower back in the muscle that control the movement of my right leg. This left me almost totally unable to walk for a while.
I was unable to walk more than a couple feet until last Sunday. I had to use a wheel chair to get into and out of the infusement clinic and doctors offices. I'm finally able to walk or actually hobble but not for very long.
Every little bit helps I guess.

Elaine ( Katskitten ) has been my helper for the last month and is about exhausted. I'm on strict orders not to lift anything with my left arm due to the pict ( IV plumbing ) tubes that's been installed in it. And since my right shoulder has a possibly damaged rotator cuff it don't work either. It's getting better, but still not useable.

So that's an update on me and I appreciate the concern. Thanks for asking about me.

Joe

Joe hope you are on the road to recovery and Elaine is resting better. Sounds like a real stressed out time for all.

Very stressed out. I was pretty much numb for a most of the time. Elaine was my maid, butler, and chauffeur.

Got the pict tubes out Tuesday, so no more IV anti-biotics. Doctor thinks I'm doing better. I still ache and have trouble walking but I am doing better.
Just today I showered by myself. Elaine kept watch in case I lost my balance but I did it myself. What a relief!

Now to figure out how to pay the medical bills.

Joe
