I have a dilemma

I have a friend in Italy who is having twin boys, due on March 8th. She loves Beatrix Potter, but hubby was against a whole BP theme in the room. I told her I would make quilts for the babies using BP fabric. Well, the first one is done and I can't seem to get any ideas on how to piece the top of the second one. The backing fabric is the same, but I want the tops to contain some of the same fabrics, but not be identical. Usually the fabric talks to me and tells me what it wants to be. But either this fabric has gone mute or my ears are full of cotton. LOL.

I have printed fabric with 4in BP scenes that I want to incorporate in each quilt. The first one uses 5 of the blocks as their center with 4 plain blocks in between. These are 9, 12 in block sqaures, 3 rows x 3 columns. It is a sampler. I was thinking of an allover design for the second. Anyone have any suggestions. I'm at my wits end and I need to get this done and in the mail.

What about using the 4" scenes kinda like the center of a log cabin block and build strips of the other fabrics around it until you have a block the size you want? Or maybe use the scenes as the centers of attic window blocks? Just a thought!! Marilyn

You could do 4" or 6" BP squares alternating with 4patches (or 9 patches) in coordinating fabrics.

There's a quilt pattern for fabric that you like and don't want to cut in small pieces.... Just Can't Cut It? Let me search.

Found it. Click to enlarge the pic. It's an easy pattern, you might be inspired to do something similar!
