buying fabric online?

please forgive me if I asked this before. I often think of things, then can't remember if I asked...or meant to ask. I don't have anywhere to buy fabric, so I've been buying it online. for a while I was pleased with FabricGuru, and no matter how much you bought, shipping was only $4.99. not bad if you're buying a lot. but...maybe it's just me, but while they excel in drapery/upholstery fabrics, I just don't ever see much of basic cotton. I like simple stuff mostly. homespun also. I cruised around a little, but thought I'd ask if anyone found a good online shopping site. I'm not that impressed with JoAnns usually. a site with good fabric prices, good selection, doesn't rob you on shipping? thanks.

I've ordered from www.hawaiianfabric.com It's Hawaiian fabric, but they do have solids. I especially love the feel of their 100% cotton. It's better feel than anything I've see in town.

I've ordered from www.fabric.com and liked what I bought.

Then fabricclub.com

Most of these I've not ordered from in the last few months as I have LOTS of fabric and a Hancock's and HobbyLobby and SIRS handy.

Hancocks, HobbyLobby, SIRS, Hancocks of Puducah, and other stores also have fabric online.

thanks, Angie. I have the links written in my little fabric notebook. also, I forgot about Hancocks. I didn't realize Hobby Lobby had an online store. (smacks head with hand) I know there are many sites listed, but I like to order where somebody has done business with them and were satisfied.

I buy everything from www.fatquartershop.com and Hancock's of Paducah (not the same as the chain Hancocks). I usually shop the 50% off fabrics.

At the top of this forum is a LINK to Buying Fabric Online. You have a wonderful source there so might want to take advantage of it. MY favorite is equilter.com but there are soooo many!

Have fun, you are in for a great time!!! LQ

Is this for quilting or clothing sewing?

I like to hop around the shops on the FabShopHop site. There are lots of different collections of fabrics, each shop is so unique, and they are spread out EVERYWHERE in the US (and maybe Canada, too?). When they do the shop hops, there are often really good sales at the shops listed. I've gotten some gorgeous quilting fabrics through there, which I use for all kinds of projects, not just quilting. There's a hop coming up in September. I've won gift certificates to shops doing the hop, too. Nothing beats free fabric. It doesn't cost anything to join. http://www.fabshophop.com/

I just found out about this place - haven't ordered from them - yet - but I plan too - all fabric is printed in the USA from cotton grown in the USA (or so they say) and only $5.96 yd all the time. http://www.connectingthreads.com/Quilting.cfm

This is the best online quilt shop.
the Back Gate Country Quilt Shop.

I've found a lot of bargains on www.quiltfabriccloseouts.com and I love their fabrics. I've ordered many times from there, and have always been satisfied.... plus the shipping is not real high. Most of the time I get several pieces of fabric for the $4.99 shipping cost.

I also love www.Thousands of Bolts.com (and only one nut) - Their fabrics too are very reasonably priced, and shipping is not bad
