A precious gift...

As some of you may remember on January 9th, 2007 my dear friend, Mrs. Gladys was killed in a car accident. She was a quilter. She could set down and do a top in a day's time. She tacked her quilts most of the time. She sold some and gave some for gifts. She did each one of her grandchildren a quilt and most of her greats.

One day last weekend I was talking to her youngest daughter. I was telling her about working on the yellow and blue quilt top. She said "You know Mother had loads of quilt scraps and fabrics. You can have them if you want them. We don't quilt nor do we sew so we sure won't be using them." I told her it would be an honor to take those fabrics/scraps. She had boxes of scrap pieces/fabrics. I hope this weekend to go get them.

Her daughter also told me that I can have the quilt that Mrs. Gladys had on her bed. What a precious gift.

It's not about moving mountains but about digging the ground that you're on.

I would rather be a "has been" than a "never was."

Goodness Jan - that' s so nice that you'll have part of your friend with you.

You'll have warm memories when working with all that.

That is indeed an honor and a precious gift, and it's so very nice to see someone who recognizes it as such receive these things. A very sweet thing. I'm sure she's smiling at your happiness over it...

That is so nice!

When my first husband's grandmother died the family gave me her quilt scraps...a WWII duffle bag full! She and I shared a love of quilting and I was very honored to receive her quilt scraps.

Nothing quite like the Hug that is felt through the gift of a quilt! That truly is a blessing and honor!
