Burp pads from diapers

My granddaughter's other grandmother and I want to make her some burp pads using diapers(her idea) and have the baby's name embroidered on them. I don't know how but, silly me, I said I would make them and she could have them embroidered. I know I can make them but, I need to know how. Any suggestions?

You can buy diaper fabric. Do a search for a site that sells fabric for diapers (can't remember the name). Wash and dry the fabric, using heat. Cut the fabric the right length, then fold it back and forth until it is the thickness of two padded diapers. Sew. Just make sure the ends are all folded in. You could use blanket binding on the edges, which would be quite pretty. I don't know how this fabric would take to being embroidered on, but if the other GM knows about embroidery, I guess she'll figure it out. She'll need waste lining.

Fae, I have made them for my granddaughter and I guess I went the easy way. I went to Wal-mart and bought a bag of plain white cloth baby diapers and then I crocheted an edge on it with a small hook and cotton yarn like you would use for washcloths. then on the machine it went and I embrodered her name. I'll try to post a pic and send it to you. The pic is of the first one and I am still trying to figure out my machine ( new tee hee hee ) so her name isn't centered very well but, my son loved it anyways.

Thank you Maura and Petsneggs. I might try it both ways and see how it works out. I appreciate the pictures. It really helps me to have visual aids. My granddaughter is having a boy so I think I might need to rethink the edging but, at least now I know what to do.
