Canned Pig Food

Would you believe PIG FOOD? Also canned a batch of chunky applesauce. Decided I didn't want to waste half a box of pears that were too far gone for humans, but not moldy, so using tattler lids and mayo jars, I canned one load. Will be good for when we no longer get free veggies this winter. Dehydrated two batches of peels and cores, and have one full load of pumpkin going now, which will be for us.

Great idea! Waste not, want not. The piggies will be loving you this winter! By the way, that's one of the things I love about my Tattler lids. I don't have to consider the cost of the lid when deciding to can something up. It makes it an even better deal!

I can up roe from salmon as well and the rest of the scraps head stuff you know --kinda very gross- but chickens love it when it is fresh and they had their fill but the stuff just kept comming in with each load of fish --so I canned the grossest for the chickens --cause -it is dump and go --it is not in my eye sight long for the chickens there I skipped the roe and eyes. I just could do it--I really thought about this at the time.---esp when the first can came out of the canner and I did not have the same joy of looking at the final product. The eye got to me. Yet at the same time I wished that I had not composted so much before I got the idea. (only here can one own up to it)
