Smile State fair entries!

I dropped off my very first ever state fair entries today! Peach jam, red pepper jelly, and peach-canteloupe conserve. I don't expect to win anything as I wasn't thinking of fair entries when I canned them, so the headspace isn't exact. Still, it's fun to enter and I plan to go back and look at all the winners to have a better chance in future years. I do wish there was a way to explain a little about the process to the judges, though... I am particularly proud of my pepper jelly which has a gorgeous jewel-like red color which is JUST from the peppers, no food coloring! Hopefully it will speak for itself.

I am also entering some baked goods and think I might have a better chance at premiums there, as I have a really divine roll recipe and taste is part of the judging in that category.

Anyway, just wanted to share... none of my friends are canners so although they're happy that I'm happy, they really don't understand why I'm so excited about entering

I use to enter a lot of things in the county fair & was always so excited too. I did win many ribbons for different things, canned goods included so don't count yourself out of winning just yet.
Let us know how you do.

I Love to make pepper jelly & like to use red peppers in place of the green so there is more color to it also. We love it as a dip or baste for pork & chicken the most.

Good luck! I hope you win. I made red pepper jelly a couple of years ago and it was good.
