Wide mouth

I have searched and cant find out if something is wrong. I canned 7 qts of chicken last night. 5 wide mouth and 2 reg mouth. The reg ones popped within an hour or so after i pulled them out. The wide ones came out of the canner looking sealed and I never heard a pop ????? Thanks

yep...mine often do, and with the noise of the boiling, you might miss it.
Glad they are sealed

Something I always do is to tap the lid with a spoon. A sealed lid sounds different, even if the button is down. A sealed lid sounds like "tink!tink!tink!" and an unsealed lid sounds like "tonk!tonk!"

I don't tap the button, but somewhere in between the button and the edge. I don't want to accidentally depress the button and confuse things further.

LOL I run the tap test in the pantry every so often. Just start taping each top to make sure they sound the same.

This mortifies my mom and aunt. OMG you could unseal a jar by doing that.

No amount of telling them otherwise convinces them of anything different. I figure that if they are solid, a tap tap shouldn't hurt.
