Potholder questions.

Ok so I am going to be making up some giftbaskets for the holiday gift giving. Hand woven baskets with dishcloths, potholders and scrubbies and maybe some Made in OK type products for out of staters.

So I have seen many different patterns for potholders some use cotton some use wool what are you all opinions on fiber type. And does anyone ever put in a layer of felt in 2 layer potholders, for added protection. Thinking of coming up with a pattern on my machine for casserole potholder and was just thinking it might need extra padding on the MIT ends. If any of you have tips or ideas feel free to tell me when something went right or when something went wrong.

One thing you could do is knit them out of wool and felt/full/shrink them. Solves the problem of putting a layer of felt in and makes it really dense.
