How much time do you expect before "15+ cattle, 20+ sheep and 10+ pigs" will have the 15 acre area for feed? Afterward, what will you do to the area in order to support future grazing? Are you familiar with silvo pasturing?

While the animals are clearing brush they are going to also be fed hay and some grain to supplement. Because I am going for a pretty good knockdown I will mob graze. I do understand the nutritional needs of the animals and am not going to force them to go without. But any good graze/browse beast will spend a good part of the day consuming the available flora, even if you didn't want them too. I know it will take a couple seasons to get it really down to a grass environment again. This field was a pasture 25 years ago. It has grown into mostly brambles. And the woods along the edge have crept into the field some. The woods have always been woods. Its the flat area I wish to turn back into grass and select cut trees to open the wooded area up.

While, I did not delve too much into your video, I do spend a lot of time on Florida ranches and if you look at my earlier posts in the thread you will see where I acknowledge the use of forestry, pasture mixes. I work with ranches in FL that are doing it in very large tracts, 1000's of acres.

I am implementing such a thing in my own way on my land in PA. Particularly because I have so much Oak and Hickory in our woods. And my woods are on the low lands so the cool season grasses grow into the hotter, drier time of the year. But I need to open the canopy up a little to get more sun.

Don't worry the Machine operators will be given food and water too.

This is a fun experiment to see how it turns out. But my animals are way to valuable to ever go without proper nutrition. I do have all the heavy equipment to just do-it. But that is not strictly in line with my mission statement.

Agmantoo:
That was a very good suggestion. I misunderstood the direction of your question. I never really read up on it as a culture method. I just knew what I was trying to accomplish.
I am researching the Silvopasture for implementation in other areas of my land now. It is as I had already thought. But a little more experience from others is always great help.
