Exposing non acclimated animals to endophyte affected fescue or fescue hay can cause poor milk production some weeds can cause the same problems is she on new pasture what kind of feed or hay ?

Im not positive but I dont think the calf was premature. I only get a bull once a year for 2 mos. I have 8 cows and she was the 6th cow to calve. I do rotational grazing so the cows were still on pasture not many weeds this year in the fields. I sprayed with 2 4 d early in the year. not on hay yet. Sinc she is only 2.5 yrs old I was going to feed her out and eat her. I have a steer and a heifer that are 14 mos old that i started feeding out so I was thinking of eating her and selling 1 of them.

I know I mentioned previously that I would likely give her a second chance and I still do believe that you may find the results different but given the size of your herd, keeping a heifer that did not raise a viable calf is expensive so under your circumstances, I think I'd probably do the same.

2.5yrs old and in good condition, sounds like freezer camp time, I have seen many a heifer raise a good calf by giving it all she had. That is a trait you want to promote.
