Hi Everyone

We had our first calf today. I knew she was close, but as the story goes...leave and it will happen.
Both mamma...Swissy and baby are doing great! Oh, it's a girl!
We are so excited!

I love that calf's ears! They look to be about as big as momma's ears. That grass looks yummy. My cows would be jealous.

Adorable and flashy!

What breed are Swissy and Miss Swiss?

What a seriously cute calf!

Swissy is a Brown Swiss/Angus mix. We had a Shorthorn bull for a short time and Lil Miss Swiss has his markings.
We were not sure whom she was bred by because she was at the neighbors and he has a Charolais bull and a Angus bull.
But, with those markings she looks like that Shorthorn. We sold him awhile ago.
I found a pic of him. Let me know if ya'll agree.

That is the dad but I would say he is not a Shorthorn.

What do you think he is? He was part of the group I bought and the neighbor said he was a Shorthorn. Would love to find out his breed.

Cute calf, that last picture is just adorable. If she grows into those ears....... The bull doesn't look Shorthorn to me, either. His color pattern reminds me of Pinzgauer, but he looks mixed breed to me. He was a mutt but he sure gave you a pretty calf.

I would love to just kiss that sweet little face....soooooo cute! Congrats

My guess would be Pinzgauer cross also because of the white pattern over the back and hips. When I saw the color on the calf my first thought was longhorn. The bull may also have some Semintal blood from the looks of the blaze on the face.
