that is black. You might want to have a soil test done. check if any minerals are low. That could be bleaching from the sun. She seems to be well built. If any flaking of horns or hoofs up selenium.

I have been working with a local university and have not found anything low in my animals they have been doing hair tests every 6 months. We do feed a lot of minerals we have no selenium if I don't suppliment.

That is a case of bleaching. If copper is low they will lighten. The black will start as a brindle sometimes. That is why you have two years to change color after reg. Now that is a forelock.
On blacks the darker the nose the darker the hair. She could almost be classed as a dun. But you can tell she is still changing color.

Thankyou the colors are difficult and it seems noone in state has many of the black, or brindle most of the herds have lots of red. I really want a silver hopefully my new dun bull gives me one:-) he has two dun cows to work with.

If he does not I have a silver bull that can take his place. In about three month's so explain it to him.
Red and yellow are common. Black is more common in Mich. I know of a herd in Scotland 400+ all black. That is the only color.

here is my black bull. this picture is a year old, he is quite a bit larger now, but for the color discussion.

Also, we have a pair of twin brindle heifers that are about 3 years old, they are the small type and a silver cow for sale. The silver cow is very pregnant.

The twins are tame the silver is not. This is the silvers 2nd calf. Her first was slate grey. She can be seen on my website. The twins I dont have a recent picture of.

Love the blacks and the silvers. I lived on a farm for several years where they had all the red colors...
