So why are some cattle called a fold and some a herd ? Do you have to know when to fold em and know when to hold em. Cattle humor this late at night is a hard thing. > Thanks Marc

I love our highlands. The name is interchangeable around here. People don't know the difference. Highland, highlander, nobody cares, except me. It irritates me about as much as when people assume all our highlands and longhorns are male because they have horns.

I have also heard people refer to them as "Scotch Highlanders", just "Scotch", and also "High-liners"?? I also hate when people interchange purebred and thoroughbred when referring to horses. ie: "Oh yes, she is Registered, she is a thoroughbred Arabian".

My personal peeve is when people call Boer goats BOAR GOATS! Yes, they are a meat breed, but it sure is not BACON!!
