Haypoint, I have no idea what you talk about half the time, why on earth do you think I have class envy. I have a farm and do what I want to do, I don`t envy big farms. Never have , never will, they drive some purdy fancy tractors, but thats about all. I just made a general statement that big Ag gets big money from the government, and you know as well as I do if you know how to play things, you can make a lot of cash from government programs. I really didn`t say the program you were talking about was making anything, was just a general mega farm statement. I could have been one of those mega farm operators, but changed my way of thinking back in the 90`s. Love being a mid sized farmer and selling my own products. We have an on farm store, people come to us to buy, we go no where else to sell them. Government does not want small farms, they can put the thumb screws to the big boys after they have them where they want them. It is very hard to make many do what you want, much easier to make a few conform. > Thanks Marc

Here is what New Zealand is doing as far as I.D. tags: Welcome to NAIT - New Zealand’s National Animal Identification and Tracing (NAIT) scheme

NZ is the world leader in dairy exports. It exports 95 percent of the milk it produces, and its dairy products account for 1/3 of the international trade. Source: http://cache.business.newzealand.com...fact-sheet.pdf

The dairy industry is growing and thriving in NZ ... not so much in the U.S.

We can get with the program and try to be competitive, or we can let someone else lead ... and reap the profits.

Oh, BTW? One of the NZ's main export markets is .. you guessed it ... the United States!

NZ is and has been the world leader in intensive rotational grazing year round. That my friends is why they thrive IMO! Not only with beef cattle but Dairy cattle too.

I just talked to a guy with a vineyard in NZ. I think their climate has a lot to do with their productivity. Plus, they maintain a smaller range of wildlife.
