Here they are charging $250-$300 for calves that age and that's just the bull calves.

I talked with several calf traders this week, day old calves are now trading for $2/lb. The veal producers are trying to load barns and the supply of bull calves has diminished because of the increased use of sexed semen by the dairies to produce more heifers for milk production.

I paid $125 for 3 week olds a couple weeks ago~ but that was a GREAT price around here and they are not weened. In fact the man was really happy to send them with me for my cows because he had spent three weeks trying to move a couple hundred calves to buckets and three of the four I bought just would NOT eat from a bucket. They love my cows! (My cows kinda hate them, or at least Bess does....but she lets them eat!)

I usually see $125 for 3 to 7 day olds and thats only if I'm willing to drive two to four hours to fetch them, I rarely if ever see weaned calves dairy bulls offered here so no clue what price on them.

We just bought two 4 day olds for $115 each. We kept looking but this was the best price at a reasonable distance. This is our first venture in raising calves but we wanted to give it a try. We're learning a lot.

Day old Jersey Bull calves sell down here in Arizona for the low low price of $10 a head. Craigslist seems to indicate that some people have a little business running of buying them, holding for a couple weeks and reselling.
