Calcium is not considered the problem now in some studies, but alfalfa also is high in potassium which is now considered to be the problem instead of calcium. The studies I have read have indicated that milk fever may be occurring more often due to the increased use of manure to fertilize.

If anyone is interested in pictures of how to IV their cow so you can save one that is suffering from milk fever, PM me and I'll send them to you.
