MO Cows, that is one solid cow, your Peewee. She appears to have a very nice udder, and if that calf is any indication, she deserves a lot of scratchin'!!!

Don't have any at present, but I met a woman at the livestock auction who had raised a steer and took him into the sale. She sat by me and asked if I would watch the cattle portion of the auction until hers sold. She had raised the thing inside her house! Put plastic down in the dining room and roped it off. She said when he got too large, they put him outside, but he hated to be isolated from the family. They didn't lock their doors, as most people out here don't. Had lever type door 'knobs', and he learned to push it down and come inside. One night the big baby wandered down the hall to get a drink from the 'throne', then stuck his wet nose on her husband's face. Scared the daylights out of the man, and he told her enough is enough. Off to the auction went the poor thing. Some critters just shouldn't be raised inside! I'm much too light of a sleeper to let something that large clomp down our hall and not wake up.

Your cow looks like a real sweetie! She won't give as much milk as a typical dairy breed, but I think you'll need to milk her more than once a week to keep the supply up. Let us know when she freshens and show pictures!

Those are some most excellent ears I too have a pet cow, or yard cow - her preferred title. She's a Dexter so more like a half a pet cow, and since I love seeing other's pics, I'll post one of mine later, when I get it

What a beautiful, trendy (with the nose ring) and literate animal!

Yeah, he is lovable, affectionate but little sense of personal space and does not understand why he can't still be a lap animal, and well aware I can't make him do anything, he leads but it is kind of hit and miss if he is in charge, the nose ring helps move all 1200 plus when he has decided to have a stubborn moment..

Also, that book is "the illustrated guide to the Olive Farm", written by a friend of mine Carol Drinkwater, recommed ALL her olive farm books, they are wonderful!!!!
