I can't tell for sure by your post whether you are asking about protecting cattle or any farm animals. I do not have cattle yet but we do have a goats, turkeys, and chickens. Our maremma guards everything on our ranch very well. She stays with the goats at night and comes into our yard during the day to watch the chickens. She barks at hawks, neighbors, coyotes, etc. and doesn't hesitate to jump a five foot fence to go confront trouble. We lost animals left and right until we got her. It's been nearly three years and we have lost almost nothing since.

my cattle take care of themselves..I have a very big brangus cow who doesnt like ANYTHING "strange" in the pasture...be it animal or human.

My other cow was a good "guard" for my small flock of sheep til I got my Pyr.
