Oh thank goodness! I've been thinking of you. We have a wonderful Jersey too, and I can not imagine how hard this has been for you.

Happy for you!

Many times we get newbies here asking what their potential family cow should be tested for prior to purchase. Might we wise if we put leukosis on the list.

Good news does not come to often, glad to hear yours was great. I know that those of you that only have a cow or two at the most this is very overwhelming. But those of us that have grown up farming our whole lives this is an everyday happening. When I was younger I would be just like most of you on here (Heart broken) and upset. But the more you loose animals the more you get use to it for lack of a better word. I still is not a good thing, and we still get very upset, but we seem to get hardened in to the death of our animals. We still love them just as much, and miss them just the same, but we know we have done the best we can do to give them a good life. So to the newbies, learn from the mistakes of others, learn from the knowledge of the old timers, and do the best you can do to give your animals the best life you can give them. And also remember life is not fair all the time, sometimes things just seem to happen to us, and a good saying. What doesn`t kill us , makes us stronger. And a saying my Father always use to tell us kids here, " If you don`t want to loose animals , don`t have them" I remember that saying as if Dad had said it yesterday. Hang in there everyone, Thanks > Marc

the only other thing i can really say is. please test for this. and please read and listen to others that have been doing this for awhile. and spring you are right. it is hard to loose a animal. but what really had me going is i had just lost a dear friend the day before the calf and then the news of this. i was hurting for everything. i just had no time to do anything but be upset.
